Ash launches A-Z digital subscription service

They announced it earlier this year, but UK indie band Ash are kicking off their A-Z Series of singles, working with online retailer Recordstore.co.uk for the digital element.

The band will release a new song every two weeks as a 7-inch vinyl single and download, starting today with a song called True Love 1980. It’ll continue for 26 releases over the next year.

A subscription costs £130, although the singles will be sold individually too. All are chart-eligible, raising the prospect of 26 chart hits in a year if the band sell enough subscriptions.

We wonder how many fans will have £130 to spare at once for a subscription, but it’s an innovative idea that’ll be fascinating to follow. One extra quibble – shouldn’t the first song start with ‘A’?
