MUSIC NEWS - Bad Lieutenant, the brand new musical project spearheaded by BERNARD SUMNER (New Order/Joy Division)  will give away (in the USA) two Deluxe Editions of the band's debut album, Never Cry Another Tear (out November 10).  The two winners will be chosen from the fans who download-for-free the track "Dynamo" from the band's website.  The excellent Dynamo, an intellegent Brit-pop, early The WHO sounding tune is a feast for the ears!  The competition starts today, November 9 and the winners will be announced and notified on November 24.

The Deluxe Edition, with its own exclusive artwork, includes the Never Cry Another Tear CD with full color album artwork booklet, a deluxe double 180g 14-track vinyl of the album in double-panel packaging, a 7-inch vinyl of the tracks "Sink or Swim" and "Dynamo," a special 12-inch Bad Lieutenant booklet, and a limited edition t-shirt.

The core members of Bad Lieutenant, Sumner (guitars, vocals), Phil Cunningham (guitars), and Jake Evans (vocals, guitars)  will be joined on upcoming concert dates by former Joy Division/New Order drummer Stephen Morris (who also played on the new album) and bassist Tom Chapman. According to Sumner, "The bulk of the set will be Bad Lieutenant songs, but we'll also play some songs from my past, some New Order songs, some Joy Division, and a few other surprises. We're all very excited about coming back to the States."  The band will headlines shows at Park West in Chicago (11/18) and Webster Hall in New York (11/21),  and will support the Pixies in Chicago (Aragon Ballroom, 11/19) and NYC (Hammerstein Ballroom, 11/23).

Never Cry Another Tear , was produced by Sumner and Bad Lieutenant.  The essence of the new album is crisp, streamlined 21st century guitar music, underscored by keyboards and occasional melodica, and the distinct vocals and guitar work of Evans.
