The iPhoneFreak site has a good post up today on the latest security threat to jailbroken iPhones.  This one is potentially far more serious than other recent ones that have made headlines …

Instead it seems that this modified version, which is being called “iPhone/Privacy.A” is slightly more devious.

“When connecting to a jailbroken iPhone, this tool allows a hacker to silently copy a treasure trove of user data from a compromised iPhone: e-mail, contacts, SMSs, calendars, photos, music files, videos, as well as any data recorded by any iPhone app.”

With this particular attack once again, you’re only vulnerable if you are a) jailbroken and b) running the SSH service.  It’s a great reminder for jailbreakers to get their passwords changed for the two well-known accounts on the iPhone, root and mobile.  If you need help with doing that, check out our step-by-step how-to guide on changing iPhone passwords HERE.
