LEE RITENOUR Announces SIX STRING THEORY Guitar Contest

     MUSIC NEWS - Guitar legend, Lee Ritenour has just announced THE YAMAHA SIX STRING THEORY GUITAR COMPETITION.

 The competition, based on the vision of guitar icon Lee "Captain Fingers" Ritenour, will culminate with the spring/summer 2010 album, SIX STRING THEORY, on Concord Records.  The talented grand prize winner will be featured as a special guest on the album with legendary superstar guitarists, who along with Ritenour now include: George Benson, BB King, Steve Lukather and John Scofield;  additional artists being announced shortly.

The grand prize winner will also receive a four year, fully paid tuition to the prestigious Berklee College of Music.  Yamaha Corporation is awarding three guitar endorsements plus six high-end guitars to the top winners, one in each of the six categories and the top winners will also be awarded a host of prizes by the participating sponsors.

 

The contest is presented in association with the Yamaha Corporation, Concord Records, Berklee College of Music, Monster, Cable, D’Addario Strings and the Broad Stage.  Full list of rules, here.  

More Details and How to Submit:

  • The contest starts October 1, 2009 and runs through February 1, 2010.
  • Contestants can submit videos online from anywhere in the world to www.sixstringtheorycom
  • You can enter the contest in one of six categories:  Rock, Blues, Jazz/Fusion, Country, Acoustic, or Classical/Flamenco.
  • Six finalists will be chosen by a panel of top online judges including Lee Ritenour and will compete in a live performance to determine the grand prize winner on March 22, 2010 at The Broad Stage in L.A.
