MUSIC NEWS - After more than 30 years, Yusuf Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, is going on a concert tour, with a handful of UK dates announced so far. The tour called "I Guess I'll Take My Time Tour" began in Dublin today, November 15, as the musical "Moonshadow" debuting in London in February.
With these shows, Islam, 61, will soldiify his slow return to the world, and concert stage after he disappeared from the music scene completely after his conversion to Islam in 1977. He's made a few concert appearances around the world in the last few years, recorded a new album "An Other Cup" in 2006 and put out "Roadsinger
" this year.
Yusuf recently said his newer recordings, and acceptance at the few concerts performed recently, had encouraged him to embark on his first tour in 33 years. "Thirty-three years is a long time, and I suppose I never imagined that I'd be going back on tour again," he told Reuters at Elstree Studios in London where he has been rehearsing for his four-date tour.
